Since the often-dubbed "great American sport" first took shape
in the United States, baseball and America have mirrored the
same values, responded to the same events and grappled with
the same social and economic issues. From February 15 through
May 11, 2008, the
National Constitution Center in Philadelphia will
host Baseball as America, the first major exhibition to examine

the relationship between baseball and
American Culture.
There are more than 500 historical
baseball artifacts from the National
Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum
in Cooperstown, New York in the
exhibit that provides a revealing,
inspiring, humorous and dramatic
perspective on "America's game."
The Phillies haven't been forgotten and
there are several areas devoted to
items and information from the hometown team. The photo above,
of Darren and Mitch Williams celebrating the team's win of the 1993
National League Pennant is one of many highlights. Other Phillies
items are Second Baseman Chase Utley's shoes that he wore
during his 2006 35-game hitting streak (see them below) and a
Phillies 1980 World Series ring.
