Hi friends,
I'll be heading to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia for the Phillies
Alumni Weekend, to see old friends and meet new baseball fans.
It's good to be back in Philly and always interesting to be with my
former teammates and the great staff in the team's front office.
This visit will come with special memories when we honor the
late John Vukovich as his name is added to the Phillies Wall of
Fame. Vuk was a good friend and his loss is great, not only to
me as someone who had the opportunity to know him but to all
fans of baseball.
John brought to the baseball field an intensity that was often
unrivaled and a dedication to, and for, the game he loved that was
a great as any. His passion for it was evident to all who were in
his presence. He brought honor to the uniform he wore and we
will always miss him.
You can check out more about the Alumni Weekend and the
events that will take place on August 10, 11 and 12 on the
Phillies website. Along with the Wall of Fame ceremony on
Friday, August 10, there will be autograph signings, an alumni
batting challenge and more. Check out the schedule to make
sure you are there for the festivities.
